YOGA (2 weeks /1 month)

Naga Yoga

Usually it takes 1 month for the student to get an idea of doing Asanas or postures. Early morning and evening are the best times for practice. Typically classes will be taught 2 hours daily from Monday to Friday in the early morning for the duration of 2 weeks or 1 month respectively.

Accompanying your yoga class, an insight into Pranayama or Yogic Breathing is given and different Pranic breathing techniques are taught, which allows you to enter the interesting field of breathing. Various techniques of breathing to cool the body, heat the body, breathing for concentration, and breathing for cleaning the body from toxic air will be taught.

1. Beginners:
Students will be taught the Soorya Namaskar, commonly known as Salutation to the Sun. This contains 12 consecutive Asanas. It is the only Asana which is done consecutively and gives flexibility to the body making the students fit to do second stage Yogasana.

2. Advanced Stage:
Students who practice the Soorya Namaskar properly will be taught a minimum of 15 Asanas or postures.

Students should wear loose pants and shirt, preferably cotton. They should have a yoga mat to spread on the floor.

Accommodation can be in an Indian Host Family, in our volunteer house, in a simple guest house, or in a rented house in various locations depending on your program. You may have to share a room, sleep on a mattress on the floor, and use a common bathroom either Indian (bucket shower, squat toilet) or Western style; although often you might have your own private room and private bathroom with more comfort.
Food is local Indian cuisine with a mixed vegetarian and non-vegetarian diet and includes three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian or have certain requirements regarding your diet, e.g. food allergies. We will then try to provide food according to your needs and wishes.

Upgraded Food and Accommodation Option
Should you wish for an upgraded food and accommodation option in a private room with attached Western style bathroom, for example in a nice middle class hotel, resort, or guest house, we can arrange this for you at extra cost of € 42 / US$ 65 per night. In this more exclusive accommodation/food package option, food would be upgraded also, for example with a higher proportion of fresh sea food, tropical fruit, and more meat options. The food package includes three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian or have certain requirements regarding your diet, e.g. food allergies.
